Charlotte Matthys, listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 list of 2022, is the Ghent-based entrepreneur behind NONA, a brand of premium alcohol-free spirits that offer a tasty alternative to classic gin and Aperol Spritz. As a child she grew up with conscious eating and enjoyed making her own drinks. Growing older, her love for nature and interest in food technology has led her to graduate as a bio-science engineer in 2017. During her studies, she experimented with own granola bars, which she didn't commercialize, but this way she discovered her interest in entrepreneurship. After 1 year of working at an IT company and experimenting with herb distillation after work, she knew she was on the right track and quited her job to fully commit to it. Soon star restaurants such as OAK and The Jane started buying NONA. After achieving a definitive breakthrough on the Belgian market, the rest of the world is also falling for the spicy brews of NONA, as evidenced by the various international awards that Matthys and her team have won.
